We use algebra in problem-solving throughout the course. If a student is struggling with algebra, the course will be a struggle. The Math Readiness Self-Test below consists of 10 problems representing the range of algebraic equations we will be working with and may help you gauge whether there is a good match between your student’s algebra skills and the math level of the course. Solutions are provided so your student may check his/her work. I would be happy to answer any questions you have about your student’s math readiness.
Note: Students are provided with an equation sheet for all quizzes and tests, so they do not need to memorize equations — just know how to use them.
